Buyer/Seller Contract and Written Health Guarantee

 

The purpose of this contract is to protect Skookumchuck Riverbottom Farm’s reputation, bloodlines, the care and treatment of the puppy/dog and to clarify terms to prevent any future disagreements between the parties herein referred to as buyer and breeder.

Registration:

This puppy is registered with a limited registration, which will prohibit breeding and registering offspring (unless other arrangements have been arranged at the time of purchase*).  This puppy is to be spayed/neutered:       Yes  /  No

Health Guarantee:

The health of the puppy is excellent to the best of our knowledge at the time of sale. The required vaccinations and de-worming (if needed – determined by veterinary) are as indicated on the puppy’s health record. The Buyer is to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian of the Buyer’s choice within 72 hours after receipt of the puppy.  If the veterinarian finds the puppy in poor health, the Buyer is to contact the Breeder immediately.  Failure to see a veterinarian within 72 hours voids all guarantees and no further guarantee is made

Seller Reserves First Right of Refusal:

Should Buyer find it necessary to place said animal elsewhere, Breeder must first be contacted and has first right to take back or help place said animal. Breeder also reserves the right to repossess the animal, without compensation to the Buyer if the animal is being neglected or abused. Buyer agrees to always keep available to the animal: food, water and appropriate housing/shelter from weather. Buyer also agrees to not have said animal destroyed without Breeders approval except in the case of fatal injury or disease, as diagnosed by a licensed veterinarian.

 

The Buyer shall provide the dog with adequate food, fresh water, shelter, affection, love and medical care (including all necessary shots and medication recommended by the veterinarian). The Buyer shall provide the dog with veterinary care upon sickness, disease, or injury and shall take it to a veterinarian at least once a year for an annual health examination and routine vaccinations.

 

The Buyer shall provide the dog with a fully fenced yard or other humane means of exercise. The dog shall not be kept constantly chained or constantly outdoors.

 

Use of the Dog:

It is agreed between Breeder and Buyer that this dog is being acquired as a family companion dog or for a working dog to be used for tasks appropriate to its breed, such as therapy dog or for exhibition in AKC conformation, obedience, or agility competition.

The Buyer agrees that the dog is not purchased for resale nor will it be used or trained for activities which are illegal or for which it is not suited by reason of temperament or conformation.

The Buyer agrees that he/she will not sell, transfer ownership or possession of the puppy or any of his/her progeny to any person or organization whose intent it is to resell (pet store), trade, give away the dog, use it in any experiments, laboratory or otherwise, or to use it as breeding stock for a puppy mill, or to use it as a fighting or bait dog or use it for anything illegal or send it to a shelter or abandon the puppy.

This contract is designed to protect the puppy and its future offspring (if applicable), the Breeder and the Buyer of said puppy.  By signing, all parties agree to all clauses of this contract.
